Lovegrove & Repucci, the creators of the Concerto Table have taken the time to add an iPod docking station on their grand piano styled dining table and a concealed speaker underneath making it “both dining surface and dinner party background music at once”.

Bonom & Lork’s Animated Train Track Anaimals
Here’s an amazing video showing some skeletal animals in motion along a railway track at Etterbeek Station in Belgium. There are loads of different frames with the creature in different positions so the video producer has taken the time to add them together, flicker-book style, for our viewing pleasure. Apparently they were created by a couple of artists called Bonom & Lork. [via]
CardBoy Calendar 2007
CardBoy brings us a new year gift in the form of this cut out and create CardBoy Calendar for 2007. Perfectly formed calender goodness and a few days to make it too. This link comes from one of my favourite new sites, Urban Retro Lifestyles – a heady mix of designer toys, video game nonsense and arty stuff too. [via]
Theo Kamecke’s Circuitry Sculpture
Theo Kamecke’s Circuitry Sculpture. Geek art! [via]
Business Man’s Dubby Games
Business Man, AKA Trentemøller, has created an great dub version of Chis Isaak’s Wicked Game. Naturally it’s called Dubby Games! While you’re over at Aurgasm make sure you check out more of this links that Paul has taken the time to put together; they really are an “eclectic menagerie of aural pleasures”.
Colour changing LED Taps
Design doesn’t get much better than when taps change the water’s colour depending on its temperature. Cool! [via]
Xmas Tunes For 2006
I mentioned Tijuana Christmas in 2004 but unfortunately the download is now unavailable. It’s been a firm favourite in Ektopic Towers over the last couple of Christmases but this year I wanted something new to listen to over my vegi-crimbo lunch. Luckily there have been a couple of Xmas links lately including DJ Riko Christmas Music Mixes [via] and Santastic II: Clausome [via]. Both are great. Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass’s Christmas Album will also be hitting the stereo this year as a adjunct for Tijuana Christmas. Cheers also to Felix for sending me this link to Makunouchi Bento’s beautiful sounding Two Mechanical Snowghosts; very Christmassy (listen to this tune below).
Update – Just seen that J-Walk also has a Crimbo album up for grabs. A banjotastic quicky. “A $19.95 value, yours free!” Go get it, it’s ace!
Update – 23/12/06 – OK, I give up! I was just downloading another couple of Crimbo albums that I saw linked from the excellent PCL LinkDump when I noticed that one of the PCL contributors has created his own list of Xmas tunes that puts my measly collection to shame. Check out the PCL’s Christmas Audio and also PCL’s MORE Christmas Audio for more Crimbo music links than you’ll ever have time to download and listen too!
Lascivious Erotic Playing Cards
Lascivious have just released a set of playing cards that have individually been designed by 52 great artists. “The playing cards create numerous possibilities for play – erotic or otherwise and celebrate the kinky, thoughtful, sensual and collaborative nature of the brand [Lascivious underwear] itself.” [via]
Stain Teacup
Perfect…just perfect. The Stain Teacup is so perfect for all the same reasons that the Fiat Scratch is. I love design that embraces use over time. “The interior surface of the cup is treated so as to stain more in predetermined places. The more the cups are used, the more the pattern is revealed. Over time they will build up an individual pattern dependent on the users personal way of drinking tea.” [via]
MSKYO Portable Speaker System
Portable speaker systems don’t get much cooler than the MSKYO (Mama Said Knock You Out) set-up. Take one granny’s shopping cart (two if you want a stereo pair!) and add some speakers and you get this very cool set-up. Is this what we’ve been waiting for? An up-to-date version of those huge ghetto-blasters from back in the day? I’m looking forward to the day when I see kids rocking the side walks with these dragged behind them! [via]
