Mikroman

I originally posted this link about Mikroworld onto Ektopia on the 27th of June this year but thought it was worth mentioning again here.

Designer, Sam Buxton, created a business card from 150 microns thick chemically milled stainless steel that folds out into a 3D model of himself at work. It was picked up by a production company and became the first character of the Mikroman range of models. He went on to be a runner up in the London Design Museum’s Designer Of The Year Award 2004.

The site is still under construction to some degree but is still an excellent introduction into Mikroman’s world.

If you’re in the US you can get Mikroman here:

The Mikro Man series isn’t that much at $15, but the cubes can be pretty expensive at $50.

The Mikro Man line has expanded to include Mikro Man Mars (space walking), Accident (in a hospital bed), Holiday (going through airport security), Muscle (working out), and Autogiro, which is a pretty cool one.
