The Wired CD: Rip. Sample. Mash. Share.
Wired magazine are giving away a free CD this month, however, you can see by the title of this post that it’s no ordinary CD. The Wired CD: Rip. Sample. Mash. Share. is the first of it’s kind because it has been published using the Creative Commons licence. Creative Commons offers the author a flexible copyright for their work so that they can stipulate whether they would allow the copying, distribution, sampling etc. of their piece. All the musicians on the CD (who include Cornelius, Chuck D & Paul Westerberg) are “pro-choice” and in this instance “encourage people to play with their tunes, not just play them.” I’ve not had any luck getting the magazine over here but Simon Carless over at FFWD has been kind enough to rip and upload the tunes for our pleasure (144 meg Torrent file only).
