I can’t believe you guys can get away with writing such obscenities! Some will like this little van, its cute (in my opinion) and others won’t. Its just a bit of fun, and I would love to be seen in one and am in the process of buying a van to convert! I do agree nothing will ever beat the original campers, but have you ever tried to buy one? most are rusted to death in some scrap yard, for sale on ebay at extortionate prices or for sale fully restored for anything between £4k and 10k. I would also imagine that one of these little vans would be slightly easier to manouvre in the real world.. so basically they both have their pro’s and cons, but please guys, if you like it say you do and if you don’t then say you don’t. No need for the obscenities!

September 6th, 2006 at 8:41 pmAs a silly European I’m a little bit surprised by all the remarks of knowledgeble u.s. experts. The Susuki Carry/Van is one of the most reliable vehicles. I’ve owned two VW Westfalia campers and it has cost me plenty to say the least. To go on vacation with a toolbox and manuals is not funny at all.
I fail to understand why a nice conversion, which honors VW for being the first in simple campers as a reason for so much fuss. A good air-cooled 2 liter Westfalia is second to none, but the are hard to come by. A good mini-camper as the Suzuki is most interesting. The air-cooled fanantics should be encouraged to preserve the real VW Campervan. Funny conversions with some help from Susuki are the salt of the earth.
