Leap Second!
It looks like we’re going to be getting a leap second this year “to get time back in synch” due to the “unpredictable nature of the planet’s behaviour”. This is the first since 12/31/1998 and it will happen as the year changes from 2005 to 2006. This has an unfortunate side effect as far as I’m concerned. I’ll be up and awake at that particular time of that particular day. I would have thought it would be better to sneak it in during the night when I have work the next morning so I get an extra second in bed! It could be worse I guess, we could be loosing a second! Anyway, on new years eve as the clock goes from 23h 59m 59s to 23h 59m 60s there’ll be an extra second at 00h 00m 00s so don’t celebrate to early! [via]
