フジペット AKA Fujipet
I’ve just taken delivery of my very own Fujipet (or フジペット if you can read Japanese) that Em got for me for my birthday (she’s even letting me have it early!). What a thing of beauty. It’s a wonderful green colour, comes with the original green vinyl bag, has a viewfinder that’s nearly as big as the lens and is just plain cool as…something out of Thunderbirds! Everything about it oozes ‘interesting,’ from the film being wound the opposite way to most other cameras to the shutter having to be cocked before it’s fired (see the two little ‘ears’ on the lens…they are marked 1 and 2 for ease of use!).
Fujipets were made between 1957 and 1963 and never distributed outside Japan. They were very popular among teenagers and were so easy to use “that even children and women could easily make use of it” (Not my words!). If you’re interested, the best place to find photos taken with the Fujipet is the Flickr’s Fujipet group, Flickr’s Fujipet tagged images and I’ll be adding mine to my Toycam Set as well. I’ll be getting some added to these pages just as soon as I can.
how did you get your fujipet then?

If anyone is interested in a Fujipet from 1957 or 58 pls tell me what price you would pay.
I can organize the camera from a friend, including the original green bag. As far as I know, it is in a good shape an stil usable. I live in Germany and mailing the camera should not be a problem. (sugoi camera desu yo !!)
