The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism
Naomi Klein’s latest book, The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism, is a “gripping story of how America’s “free market†policies have come to dominate the world– through the exploitation of disaster-shocked people and countries”. When she finished the book she sent a copy to Alfonso Cuarón (who made Children of Men) hoping to get a quote for the book’s cover. What actually happened is that he made a short film to promote the book and it’s as astounding as it is frightening. The use of stencil-styled graphics and infoart imagery works really well and never feels that it’s something that has just been taken and used for the sake of it. [via]
