Philips DVP5960 & Mutafukaz
I picked up a Philips DVP5960 DVD player the other day. I was enticed by the fact that is plays .avi files from either a DVD or a UBS flash drive as well as standard multi-region (with a remote control hack) DVDs. I’m happy to say that it works brilliantly. I tested it out with the old pilot episode of the amazing Mutafukaz and that’s the other reason for writing this all; if you’ve not seen it then you should stop whatever you’re doing - actually, finish this last bit of reading - and go download the pilot episode (from the link at the bottom of this page). It’s still a stunning piece of animation and I’m enjoying it more now than I did back at the beginning of 2003 (one of my early posts actually). Shove the files on the USB drive, inset it into the front of the player and navigate the file menu; easy. Oh, and the price…less than £40? Bargain.
