Nedko Solakov’s Simple Works
I was watching The Culture Show the other day and there was a section where Nedko Solakov was included almost as a footnote to the main event. Nedko was drawing and writing amusing and interesting stuff on the walls of a stairwell of a gallery. Nothing big, just tiny little things that could easily be missed if you didn’t know about them or weren’t in tune with the environment like many people aren’t. I was shocked into a state of complete attention when I saw one little person sitting on a shadow that had been cast on the wall and looking at his website that’s the least of his creative ways. Take a good look around and be sure to check Toilettes (simple little one-liners on toilet walls), On The Wing (where Nedko was allowed to write on the wings of loads of planes) and Dead-Lock Stories…actually, do what I’ve been doing for an hour or so, just get clicky and see what you find. You won’t be disappointed. It’s the most impressive art I’ve seen in a while. Consider me a fan!

Yes! What a legend, I saw his stuff @ documenta and it was one of about three artworks out of several hundred that I really liked. God knows why I never googled him, thanks very much for finding this… ‘destroyed public sculpture’ on its own has totally made my day…
