Is anyone else looking forward to Charlie Brooker’s latest creation, Dead Set, as much as I am?
“Britain has a big problem. The dead are returning to life and attacking the living. The people they kill get up and kill – and it’s spreading like wildfire. Curiously, there are a few people left in Britain who aren’t worried about any of this – that’s because they’re the remaining contestants in Big Brother. Cocooned in the safety of the Big Brother house, they’re blissfully unaware of the horrific events unfolding outside. Until an eviction night when all hell breaks loose.”
27th of October on E4 in the UK…can’t wait.

Akay’s projects and interventions are unique, interesting, intriguing and amusing in places too. Making money from an anti-graffiti fence… Take a look at this video. While it’s not typical of his other work it shows some real ingenuity, skill and determination. The term “time rich and cash poor” also spring to mind! [via]

Here are a few great tilt / shift videos by Keith Loutit. I really love the effect that you get with his sped up moving images. Particularly the swimmer in the lay splashing away as he passes though the frame. If you need more info on the tilt / shift technique then here are a few links.

When you’ve already augmented small spaces with projected magic there’s only one way to go…large. Pablo Valbuena has now Augmented Space on the side of a high rise building and it’s as astonishing as it was previously.

A Micrometer from Here and a super-fine video short about…I guess I’m not 100% sure really. Love? Obsession with details? Science? It’s just perfect.

Machines that Almost Fall Over do exactly what they suggest and they do them beautifully. You know I love this kind of thing. [via]

Fine Art Tv have released a short video about Susan Burnstine and her photography. It’s called The Dream Passenger. She doesn’t sound like the same bubbly person that I’m used to hearing on the Filmwasters’ podcasts but it’s still great to hear one of my favourite (if not favourite) photographers discuss her work in such a personal way. Make sure you check out Outafocus for all her blurry goodness. [via]

Popped up to London to see the mighty Cornelius a short while back. Amazing. I too a few bad photos and lousy videos too! Anyways, a little Cornelius search later and I’ve found a couple of little golden nuggets of Cornelius goodness; Cornelius Rocks Out On Yo Gabba Gabba (kids TV prog) and Petra Haden playing a stunning version of his tune, Music. If you get a chance to see him play at some point in the future then you should give up any other plans you had and do it. He, and the whole band, are just about the best thing that ever happened to music in my opinion.
